Destination

Murchison Falls National Park lies approximately 305 kilometers (190 miles) north of Kampala, requiring a 4 to 5-hour drive to reach the southern entrance gate. If arriving from the southwest, the journey from Fort Portal spans about 280 kilometers (170 miles) and takes at least 6 hours. Additionally, allocate an extra hour or 2 from the entrance gate to reach most lodges within the park.

Alternatively, travelers can opt for air travel by chartering or using scheduled aircraft services from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) or Kajjansi Airfield near Kampala. Pakuba Airfield stands as the most accessible arrival point for the primary cluster of camps and lodges situated around the park headquarters at Paraa. Other landing options include Chobe or Bugundu.

For international arrivals, Entebbe International Airport (EBB), located 46 kilometers (29 miles) from Kampala, serves as the main point of entry. Local tour operators typically arrange airport pickups and handle subsequent transportation as part of your safari package. This ensures a seamless transition from your international arrival to the safari experience within Murchison Falls National Park.
