If you are looking for a short Uganda safari, traveling not so far away from Kampala, this is the tour for you. The 3 day safari to Lake Mburo National Park offers an opportunity to see the large herds of antelopes, zebras and buffaloes alongside a population of giraffes that were translocated from Murchison falls national park. The safari is intended to start and end in Kampala or Entebbe. The park is about 269.4km from Kampala and the journey takes about 4:30 hours from the main city center.

In the morning after your breakfast, the driver/guide will pick you up and give you a briefing about the journey. Then set off for the trip. You will stop over at Kayabwe for the equator experience and later on proceed to Lake Mburo National Park. Upon arrival, you will check in at the hotel, have lunch at around 1 p.m, and go for a boat cruise which starts at 2:30 pm taking 2 hours. While on the boat you will see several wildlife species including buffaloes, hippos, birds, and crocodiles. After your boat cruise, you will go for a guided nature walk that starts at Rwonyo which is the park center, to the salt licks. The salt licks attract many animals which parade there to enjoy the salty taste of the stones. Most animals seen here include buffaloes, zebras, elands, and impalas. You will go back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
You will wake up as early as 6:30 am, have breakfast and drive to the plains for a game drive. While on this activity expect to encounter waterbucks, giraffes, hippos, elands, zebras, impalas and buffaloes among others. Leopards and hyenas are occasionally sighted. After about 3 hours of the drive, you will drive back to your lodge, relax, and have lunch. Later on in the evening, you will go and explore the park again, this time on a bike. You will go cycling in the park, a wonderful experience that allows you to have a clear glance at the animals of the park and the landscape. You will go back to the lodge for a second-night stay.
Day 3 of your short safari will start with an early morning cup of coffee as early as 6:40 a.m. Thereafter go for bird watching. This activity is best in the early morning which gives you a bit of extra luck to see more birds, others weaving their nests. It takes about 2 hours after which you will return to the lodge, check out and drive back to Kampala or Entebbe. End of trip.
