4 Days Bwindi Gorillas & Lake Bunyonyi Safari

The Four Day Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi Safari is a short exciting safari that introduces you to the mountain gorillas of Bwindi, the stunning Lake Bunyonyi and its several bird species. The scenic road trip to the  southwestern part of Uganda will also offer a chance to stop over at the Uganda Equator in Kayabwe.

This 4 Days Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi Safari starts with a pick up from Entebbe International Airport or Kampala, followed by a transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, gorilla trekking, a transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and return to Kampala or Entebbe.

Itinerary

Day 1 :
Arrival and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport or perhaps if you are already staying at a hotel within Kampala city, you will meet our driver / guide who will lead you on the long journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will stopover at Kayabwe – Mpigi district for photos at the Equator monument.

You could also grab yourself something from the craft shop or take a cup of coffee and proceed with the journey to Mbarara where you will stop for lunch at Igongo Cultural Center. Continue via the Kigezi hills of Kabale to the park.

Check in to the lodge of your choice for relaxation, dinner and overnight upon arrival.

Day 2 :
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest

Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast and get the necessary trekking equipment plus your drinking water and lunchbox. Meet your driver and go to the park headquarters for briefing. It is from here that you will get to learn about the likes and the dislikes of gorillas. You will be assigned a group of gorillas to track and a ranger with whom to go trekking.

Then venture into the jungles of the forest and start the search for these great apes. Upon meeting the gorillas, you will be given one hour to spend with them, as you record videos and take pictures. It is an opportunity for you to learn about their mysteries. During the trek you may meet other animal and bird species which are residents of the area.

Connect with your driver and get back to your lodge for relaxation.

If time allows, you may visit the neighboring communities and get to learn about their cultures and traditions. Return to the lodge for dinner and spend a night.

Day 3 :
Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After a delicious morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive to Lake Bunyonyi – the second deepest lake in Africa after Tanzania’s Lake Tanganyika. The lake has 29 islands each with a history of its own. It is home to interesting small-size bird species.

Check in to your booked lodge upon arrival and head to the lake for activities such as swimming, boat riding, and hiking the neighboring highlands.

Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4 :
Return to Kampala city – departure

Check out of your lodge after having your morning breakfast and embark on the journey back to Kampala. The journey will involve a lunch stopover in Mbarara town and then continue to Kampala or Entebbe in the evening hence the climax of 4 days Gorilla trekking and Lake Bunyonyi safari.
